Vasana Montgomery Investigated in Connection with Multistate Cyber Fraud Scheme
Authorities have launched an investigation into Vasana Montgomery, a 34-year-old woman from Phoenix, Arizona, in connection with a multistate cyber fraud scheme that allegedly targeted over 200 victims across five states since January 2024. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Montgomery is suspected of orchestrating a phishing operation that siphoned approximately 1.2 million dollars from personal and business accounts through fraudulent emails masquerading as financial institutions. The scheme, which utilized sophisticated malware to intercept login credentials, was uncovered after a joint probe by the FBI and local law enforcement in Arizona, California, Texas, Nevada, and New Mexico. Montgomery, who was arrested on Monday without incident at her residence, faces 15 counts of wire fraud and identity theft. Officials urge any additional victims to come forward as the investigation continues.
