Rock and Roll Marathon San Diego Debuts with Record-Breaking Participation and New Course for 2024
SAN DIEGO – June 2, 2024 – The inaugural Rock and Roll Marathon San Diego drew a record-breaking field of over 25,000 runners Sunday, marking the largest marathon debut in the United States this year. Organizers confirmed the event, which took place along a newly designed 26.2-mile course through Balboa Park, downtown districts, and coastal neighborhoods, saw a 12 percent increase in registrations compared to original projections. Race officials reported no major incidents, with a 98 percent completion rate and an average finishing time of four hours and 32 minutes for the full marathon.
