Here in our community, we’ve got families living in their cars because a one-bedroom apartment costs more than a mortgage used to, and Maria Bartiromo has the audacity to go on TV and say we just need “common sense” to fix the housing crisis. Common sense? Common sense would be capping rent increases and stopping Wall Street from buying up all our starter homes like they’re stock options. But no, she’s out there telling us to “tighten our belts” while she’s sitting in a studio with her hair perfect. Try telling that to the single mom working two jobs who just got a 40% rent hike. This isn’t some abstract economic theory—this is our street, our neighbors, our kids. Common sense is realizing the system is broken, not blaming regular people for not having enough “financial literacy.” I’m done.
