British Actor Callum Turner Cast in Lead Role for Upcoming Historical Epic

London, UK — In a major development for the film industry, British actor Callum Turner has been officially cast as the lead in a forthcoming historical epic, sources confirmed on Monday. The production, tentatively titled "The Iron Crown," is set to begin principal photography in April 2025 across multiple locations in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

According to a press release from StudioCanal, the film will chronicle the life of a 12th-century Scottish rebel leader, a role that Turner, 34, will portray. The actor, widely recognized for his performances in "The Boys in the Boat" and "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald," was selected after a six-month international search involving over 200 candidates.

Principal photography is scheduled to span 12 weeks, with an estimated budget of 85 million British pounds. Director Amma Asante, known for "Belle," will helm the project, and screenwriter Jack Thorne will adapt the script from an unpublished novel by historian Catherine Fletcher.

The announcement was made earlier today during a press conference at the BFI Southbank, where Turner stated he was "deeply honored" to bring this historical figure to life. Industry analysts project the film could achieve global box office revenues exceeding 300 million pounds, driven by Turner’s rising international profile and the growing demand for historical dramas on streaming platforms.

In related news, Turner is also scheduled to begin rehearsals for a West End production of "The Weir" in London this December.
