Another one of these pop-up "sneaker culture" events is planned for our downtown this weekend. Why is nobody asking the obvious questions?
LOCAL RESIDENTS OUTRAGED AS 'TRAVIS SCOTT SHOES' POP-UP PROMISES $400 SNEAKERS, BUT BRINGS ONLY TRAFFIC JAMS AND LITTER.
Our city council approved a "cultural street fair" for a hypebeast brand called Cactus Jack, and sure enough, they're bringing a truckload of 'Travis Scott Shoes' to sell. But what about the rest of us who have to get to work? The permit says it's for "art and music," but all I see is a giant line of teenagers blocking the sidewalk on Main Street while the vendors sell overpriced 'Travis Scott Shoes' for more than my monthly car payment. We already have a noise ordinance, but nobody enforces it when there's a pop-up selling 'Travis Scott Shoes' that brings in tax dollars. The whole thing smells like a cash grab, and the rest of us are left to deal with the trash and the parking nightmare. It's just common sense: don't let a flashy sneaker sale shut down our town for the weekend. But hey, as long as the influencers get their 'Travis Scott Shoes', nobody cares about the residents.
