PlayStation Plus Users Report Widespread Service Interruption Across Multiple Regions
Sony Interactive Entertainment announced on Friday that its PlayStation Plus subscription service experienced a significant global outage, leaving millions of subscribers unable to access online multiplayer, cloud saves, and monthly game downloads for approximately four hours.
The disruption, which began at 10:30 AM Eastern Time, affected users in North America, Europe, and parts of Asia. Affected individuals reported error codes indicating network authentication failures while attempting to launch connected features. Sony confirmed the issue was due to an internal server configuration error during a scheduled maintenance update.
Service was fully restored by 2:15 PM Eastern Time, with Sony offering a free 24-hour extension to all PlayStation Plus members as compensation. The company stated it was investigating to prevent recurrence. Subscribers are advised to check the official PlayStation Network status page for updates.
