Joan Cusack Returns to Broadway After 20-Year Absence in Star-Studded Revival of Classic Play
NEW YORK — Two-time Academy Award nominee Joan Cusack will make her highly anticipated return to the Broadway stage after a two-decade hiatus, producers announced Monday. The 62-year-old actress will headline a limited engagement revival of a classic American play beginning this fall at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. The production marks Cusack's first Broadway appearance since her Tony-nominated performance in the 2002 revival of "Noises Off." According to the announcement, the play, titled "The Summer of the Leaves," centers on a fractured family grappling with inheritance and identity in rural Illinois. The cast includes Tony winner Cynthia Nixon and Emmy winner Eugene Levy. Previews are scheduled to begin September 15, with opening night set for October 12. Cusack, known for films including "In & Out," "Working Girl," and her voice role in "Toy Story 2," stated she was drawn to the script's exploration of generational change. Tickets will go on sale to the general public next week.
