This Is Exactly Why the Great American State Fair Should Be Common Sense, Not a Hypocritical Festival of Greed and Noise.

I live three blocks from the fairgrounds. For the past week, I have listened to that god-awful generator hum from the deep-fried pickles truck until 2 a.m. And for what? So people can pay $12 for a corn dog that tastes like cardboard? The so-called "Great American State Fair" used to be about showcasing local farmers, 4-H kids, and actual community spirit. Now it’s a corporate carnival of overpriced ride tickets and people walking around with giant foam fingers. Where is the common sense? The city council shut down our neighborhood park because of a broken sprinkler head, but they let this thing turn our streets into a trash-filled parking lot for two weeks. It’s madness. If you want to celebrate "great American" values, start by respecting the people who live here instead of just cashing in on their parking spaces. I’m done.
