Dallas Apartment Explosion Leaves Multiple Injured, Suspect in Custody
DALLAS, Texas — A massive explosion ripped through a residential apartment complex in Northeast Dallas early Tuesday morning, leaving several people injured and prompting a large-scale emergency response. According to the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department, the blast occurred at approximately 6:15 a.m. local time at the three-story building located on the 11400 block of Forest Central Drive near the Dallas Galleria.
Investigators have confirmed that a suspect, identified as 45-year-old Johnathan Miller, is in custody and faces preliminary charges of arson and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Authorities allege that Miller intentionally ignited a gas line within a unit on the second floor, triggering the explosion that collapsed exterior walls and shattered windows across the block. The motive remains under investigation, though officials have stated it is not believed to be an act of terrorism. At least eight individuals sustained injuries ranging from minor cuts to severe burns, with two transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital in critical condition. Property damage estimates exceed $2 million, displacing approximately 60 residents who have been relocated by the American Red Cross. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has joined local law enforcement in the ongoing investigation.
