**CHARITABLE FOUNDATION OF COUNTRY STAR ZAC BROWN IMPLEMENTS INTERNATIONAL WATER INITIATIVE; OVER 100,000 GAIN ACCESS TO CLEAN WATER**
**What:** The Zac Brown-founded charitable organization, Camp Southern Ground, today announced the successful completion of a major international clean water project.
**Who:** The initiative was led by Camp Southern Ground, the non-profit founded by Grammy-winning musician Zac Brown, in partnership with the global relief organization Water Mission.
**When:** The project’s completion was confirmed by both organizations on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. Construction and implementation occurred over the preceding 18 months.
**Where:** The impacted communities are located in the Eastern Province of Rwanda, specifically within the rural districts of Kayonza and Ngoma.
**Why:** The project was initiated to combat severe water scarcity and waterborne illness in the region. Prior to the installation of new infrastructure, residents in these districts faced five-hour round trips to collect contaminated water from unprotected sources.
**How:** Camp Southern Ground raised $1.2 million for the project. The funds were used by Water Mission to install six solar-powered water treatment and distribution systems, providing 103,500 people with reliable access to safe drinking water at communal tap stands. The systems are designed to be self-sustaining and maintainable by local communities.
**Impact:** The project is expected to reduce waterborne diseases by an estimated 60% in the target districts and significantly decrease the time burden of water collection for women and children.
