Tilman Fertitta must think common sense comes with a price tag, because his latest "solution" for Galveston's traffic is just plain stupid.
I live four blocks from the seawall, and I’ve seen it all, but this takes the cake. So, Mr. Billionaire, Tilman Fertitta, who already owns half the island, wants to build a $100 million aerial tramway to "ease congestion." Are you kidding me? We don’t need a fancy sky ride for tourists who are too lazy to walk. We need the city to finally fix the stoplights on 61st Street that have been broken for three years! Common sense says fix the potholes first, not reward a developer who just wants to sell more overpriced margaritas to people hanging in the air. You want to help? Pay your fair share of property taxes on your empty lots, Tilman Fertitta. That would fix every road on the West End. This isn't innovation; it's a vanity project for a guy who doesn't wait in traffic with the rest of us.
