Alright folks, I’ve had it. My 10-year-old came home with a “homework packet” on King Lear. I thought, “Great, classic literature.” Then I actually read the questions. They’re asking kids to “explore the deconstructivist themes of power imbalance in a post-patriarchal society.” What happened to “Who is the evil sister?” and “Why did the old man go mad?”
It’s **common sense**. You don’t need a PhD to teach tragedy. You need *Shakespeare*, not a social justice seminar. My kid can’t even spell “villain” anymore. We’re so busy “interrogating privilege” that they’ve forgotten how to say “the king is dead.”
Wake up, Smithville. This isn’t education. It’s brainwashing with a side of iambic pentameter. 👇
