Carl Rinsch Faces Federal Fraud Charges Over Misuse of Netflix Funds for Series Project
LOS ANGELES, CA - Federal prosecutors have formally charged director Carl Rinsch with multiple counts of wire fraud and money laundering, alleging he misappropriated millions of dollars intended for a Netflix science fiction series. According to a 45-page indictment unsealed today, the 47-year-old filmmaker allegedly diverted approximately 11 million dollars from the streaming giant into personal investments, including cryptocurrency trades and luxury vehicles, rather than completing the promised program. The charges stem from a 2018 agreement under which Netflix provided funding for a series titled "Conquest," which was never delivered. Investigators claim Rinsch wired funds to stock trading accounts, purchased five Rolls-Royce vehicles, and acquired a high-end watch collection. Rinsch, known for directing the 2013 film "47 Ronin," was arrested earlier this week and appeared before a federal judge. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. A Netflix spokesperson declined to comment on the ongoing litigation.
