# "THE MATRIX GLITCHED": Popular Mexican Chain Exits U.S. After Customers Discover All Locations Were Actually in Canada

**DATELINE: DETROIT, MI** — In what experts are calling a "cascading reality fracture," the nationwide Mexican restaurant chain *Sierra Fuego* abruptly shuttered all 47 of its U.S. locations Tuesday, after customers began noticing a strange, impossible coincidence: every single location was actually located in a Canadian suburb that had somehow masqueraded as a U.S. city.

The glitch was first spotted by a data analyst in Toledo, Ohio, who noticed that while GPS coordinates for his local *Sierra Fuego* read as "Toledo," the actual street signs, sewer covers, and even the neighboring mailboxes were stamped with Canadian insignia.

"It was like the restaurant was a portal," said analyst Mark Teller. "You walked in for a burrito, but the air smelled like maple syrup and the salsa was served in a pouch labeled 'Sirop d'Érable.' We thought it was a viral marketing stunt. Then the waiter handed us a menu in both English and French. The Matrix was bleeding."

The company’s CEO, Juanita Reyes, confirmed the exit in a bizarre press conference that was broadcast simultaneously from a parking lot in Windsor, Ontario.

"This wasn't a strategic retreat," Reyes stated, visibly shaken. "Our internal analytics show that for the last six years, our U.S. locations were not in the United States. They were physically in Canada. The invoices were paid in Canadian dollars. The health inspectors were from the Ontario Ministry of Health. We didn't know. We were pulling from a data stream that didn't exist."

The "glitch" appears to have been triggered by an algorithm error in the chain’s proprietary mapping software, which reportedly replaced all "U.S. State" data with "Canadian
