**FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE**
**ANCHOR:** The following is a report from our National Desk.
**WHO:** Kate Gosselin, television personality and author.
**WHAT:** Former reality television star Kate Gosselin has been charged with one count of driving under the influence (DUI) following a traffic stop.
**WHEN:** The incident occurred late Friday evening, December 15, 2023.
**WHERE:** The traffic stop and subsequent charge took place in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
**WHY:** According to official documents from the Lancaster County District Attorney’s office, Gosselin was pulled over by law enforcement after her vehicle was observed crossing the center line. A field sobriety test was administered, which authorities state she failed. A subsequent chemical test at the station allegedly revealed a blood alcohol concentration above the legal limit of 0.08. No injuries were reported.
**HOW:** A complaint filed in District Court states that Gosselin was “operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol to a degree which rendered her incapable of safe driving.” She was released on her own recognizance and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on January 12, 2024.
**ADDITIONAL CONTEXT:** This represents Gosselin’s first known legal entanglement with traffic violations. She rose to fame on the TLC series *Jon & Kate Plus 8* and its subsequent spin-offs, documenting her life as a mother of eight. Her legal representation has not yet issued a public statement. The case has been assigned to Judge Mark J. Ciavarella.
