TSA Launches “Gold+” Screening Program for High-Priority Travelers
WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 26, 2023) — The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has officially launched a new, premium security screening tier designated “TSA Gold+.” This program, effective immediately at all major U.S. hubs, introduces a distinct security protocol for the highest-volume federal and corporate travelers.
WHO: The program targets a narrow demographic: federal officials with Level V security clearances, active-duty military personnel of the rank O-6 and above, and pre-vetted corporate executives participating in the “Critical Infrastructure Partnership.”
WHAT: TSA Gold+ offers a “Non-Interruptive Resolution Pathway.” Passengers in this tier are processed through an expedited, single-file lane. Screening protocols include advanced biometric verification and passive millimeter-wave scanning only. Standard physical pat-downs and bag searches are automatically waived.
WHERE: Initially deployed at 15 Category X airports, including John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), and Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD). TSA plans expansion to all Category I airports by Q1 2024.
WHEN: Public Beta testing concluded September 30, 2023. Full operational status began October 1, 2023.
WHY: According to an internal TSA memorandum reviewed by this station, the program is designed to “optimize throughput for personnel engaged in time-sensitive national security mandates” and to “deconflict standard screening assets from high-clearance, low-risk participants.”
HOW TO PARTICIPATE: Enrollment is by invitation only, based on federal personnel databases and a TSA-administered corporate tier list. Application requests are not currently being accepted for the general public. Travelers seeking expedited screening are directed to the existing TSA PreCheck and CLEAR programs.
