BREAKING NEWS | TRANSPORTATION SECURITY UPDATE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Transportation Security Administration has officially announced the nationwide rollout of a new premium screening program, designated “TSA Gold+.” The program, set to launch at select major hub airports beginning next month, is designed to offer an expedited and enhanced travel experience for pre-vetted passengers.

WHO: The program is available exclusively to U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents who are members of the existing TSA PreCheck program. Eligibility requires a clean criminal background check and a ten-year, in-person enrollment interview.

WHAT: TSA Gold+ provides a dedicated, separate screening lane at security checkpoints. Participants retain the benefits of TSA PreCheck (keeping shoes, belts, and light jackets on, and leaving laptops in bags) but also receive expedited baggage handling and priority access to document verification.

WHEN: The pilot program will begin at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport on the first of next month. A phased expansion to twenty additional airports is scheduled over the following twelve months.

WHERE: Initial implementation is limited to concourses serving domestic and select international flights at the two designated pilot airports. The TSA has confirmed that international hubs in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York will be included in the second phase.

WHY: According to TSA Administrator David Pekoske, the initiative is a response to increasing passenger volume and demand for differentiated security services. The agency states that TSA Gold+ aims to reduce average wait times for high-frequency travelers by up to 40 percent without compromising security protocols.

Cost and Enrollment: Enrollment carries a non-refundable application fee of $85, valid for five years. Current PreCheck members may upgrade for a reduced fee of $45, provided their existing membership has at least six months remaining. Cancellation of PreCheck membership will result in forfeiture of the Gold+
