AITA for thinking Tom Kane’s “retirement” is just a PR stunt?

Okay, so the “beloved” (eyeroll) former voice actor guy who did a million cartoons finally confirmed he’s retiring because of health issues. Heartbreaking, right? Except, like, wasn’t he already “retired” like three years ago because of a stroke? And now he’s just cashing in on the sympathy for a click-worthy headline?

He drops a five-minute video on YouTube (because where else do you announce your farewell in 2024? AOL?).

TL;DR: “I had a stroke, my health is bad, bye forever.” Cool. So why does this feel like the 87th time he’s “left the building”? It’s giving “retired Michael Jordan” energy. And now all the normies are posting “press F to pay respects” like he’s a dead pixel.

Meanwhile, I’m half-expecting him to drop a NFT of his voice box or come back for a Fortnite skin next week. The man is a legend, yes. But also, maybe just go gently into that good night without the documentary-length goodbye? 🙄
