Just got the email from Sony. My PlayStation Plus Essential is going from $59.99 to $79.99 a year in my country. That’s a 33% jump. For what, exactly? A few “free” games I never play and cloud saves? Are they out of their minds?

I don’t have a degree in economics, but I know common sense. You don’t raise prices in a cost-of-living crisis when you just laid off 900 people. You don’t charge more for a service that still has broken matchmaking and no new exclusives. My son’s asking why his allowance won’t cover it anymore. I told him: “Because Sony thinks we’re all made of money.”

And don’t get me started on PS Plus Premium hitting nearly $160 a year. Who is paying that? Jeff Bezos? For the privilege of streaming PS3 games that lag like dial-up?

This isn’t “inflation.” This is greed. It’s the same story everywhere – Netflix, Disney+, now this. They raise prices, cut features, and gaslight us into thinking it’s “necessary.”

I’m done. My membership expires next month, and I’m not renewing. I’ll stick to single-player games I actually own. Common sense says: vote with your wallet.
