🚨 SIMI VALLEY FIRE: LOCAL RESIDENT BLOWS UP FACEBOOK GROUP WITH BRUTAL ‘COMMON SENSE’ RANT – AND NOW THE WHOLE CITY IS TALKING
Angry local resident Karen Mitchell didn’t hold back Wednesday morning when a massive brush fire broke out near the Simi Hills, forcing evacuations and snarling traffic in all directions. In a now-deleted post on the “Simi Valley Moms & Neighbors” Facebook group, Mitchell laid into what she called a “total lack of common sense” as the flames spread.
“Why does EVERY fire season feel like we’re surprised?” she wrote. “You see a mountain of dry brush, you feel 100-degree heat, you smell smoke, and you still park your car on the one-lane road blocking fire trucks? Use your BRAINS, people. Or get out of the way.”
The post quickly racked up 2,400 reactions and over 800 “angry” emojis before the group admin removed it for “inflammatory language.” But not before screenshots spread to local news pages and Reddit.
Neighbors are divided: many calling Mitchell a hero for speaking truth to panic, while others accuse her of blaming victims—including a family whose minivan caught fire on the 118 Freeway.
“She’s not wrong, but she’s not helping,” wrote group member Linda Torres. “We need evacuation tips, not social media tirades.”
Mitchell has since apologized in a follow-up post, saying she was “just stressed and scared like everyone else,” but the damage is done—and Simi Valley is now arguing about fire safety, common sense, and who has the right to snap during a crisis.
🔥 What do you think? Is Mitchell the voice of reason or just another keyboard warrior? Comments are open (dad jokes optional).
