🚨 Simi Valley Fire: Why are we acting surprised? 🚨

Just saw the footage on KCAL. Another brush fire, another traffic nightmare on the 118, another “shelter in place” for our neighborhood. You know what I’m tired of? The absolute lack of common sense.

It’s the second week of November. It’s 90 degrees. The Santa Anas are howling like a freight train. And yet, I saw three neighbors out yesterday using leaf blowers and a guy on my street actually starting his barbecue at 2 PM. What did you think was going to happen?

We live in a tinderbox. This isn’t a mystery. My grandfather used to say, “You can’t fix stupid,” but we can at least prep. Instead of waiting for the mandatory evacuation order, maybe use your brain cells and pack your “go-bag” before the smoke turns the sky orange.

And don’t even get me started on the people blocking the emergency vehicles because they wanted to film the flames for TikTok. Get out of the way or grab a hose. Common sense isn’t so common anymore.

Stay safe, but stay smart. 🌲🔥
