🚨 MASSIE PRIMARY: COMMON SENSE GONE MISSING?
🚨 MASSIE PRIMARY: COMMON SENSE GONE MISSING?
Just got back from dropping my kid off at Massie Primary. Can’t believe what I’m seeing. A dozen parents standing outside in the cold this morning because the “new drop-off system” has them waiting in a line that wraps around the block. My neighbor said she waited 22 minutes. Twenty-two minutes to drop a kid off at school.
Meanwhile, there’s a perfectly good side gate that used to be open. Now it’s locked with a chain and a sign that says “Staff Only.” Common sense would say: if parents are backed up to the highway, maybe open the second gate and assign a teacher to watch it for 15 minutes. But no—we got a “safety protocol” instead.
And don’t get me started on the new crossing guard situation. We have a qualified crossing guard who’s been there 8 years. She knows every kid by name. But apparently she wasn’t “certified” this year because she didn’t take an online module. So now we have a substitute who stands in the middle of the road looking at his phone. Common sense says if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Reported to the school board last week. Got a form letter back about “following district policy.” Meanwhile, my kid is late to class and I’m late to work. We need common sense back at Massie. Not more policies. Just. Common. Sense.
