Okay, I’m NOT one to complain, but I have to speak up. My 8-year-old nephew got the new Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight set for his birthday, and I’m honestly appalled. This is supposed to be a toy for kids, right? Well, where’s the COMMON SENSE, Lego?
First: The Batmobile comes with a “grappling hook launcher” that shoots a plastic batarang. My nephew shot it at the cat. The cat is fine, but this is just asking for trouble. When I was a kid, we had bricks that STUCK TOGETHER. Now we have projectile weapons aimed at family pets. This isn’t “play,” it’s a safety hazard.
Second: The set has over 2,000 pieces. TWO THOUSAND. For a “legacy” set. Who has time for that? My husband and I work two jobs, we don’t have three weekends to spend building a plastic statue of Batman looking broody. You want to teach kids patience? Fine. But this is just a mess on the dining room table for a month.
Third – and here’s the real kicker: The box shows Batman in a T-pose, looking all “dark and gritty.” But inside? The minifigure is the same happy-go-lucky Batman from the cartoons. FALSE ADVERTISING. Where’s the grim, brooding hero we deserve? This is “legacy of the dark knight” not “legacy of the goofy bat.” Now my nephew thinks Batman is just a goofball in pajamas. Common sense says if you call it dark, make it
