LEGO BATMAN: LEGACY OF THE DARK KNIGHT – A NEW ERA IN BRICK-BASED STORYTELLING

GOTHAM CITY, USA (AP) – The LEGO Group, in partnership with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, has officially unveiled its latest ambitious project: LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. The announcement was made during a global press conference at the LEGO House in Billund, Denmark, this morning.

WHO: The announcement was delivered by Jill Wilfert, Vice President of Global Entertainment at the LEGO Group, alongside game director Liam Morrison of Traveller’s Tales.

WHAT: LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is a new, standalone video game that promises to be the most comprehensive and narratively complex LEGO Batman experience to date. Unlike previous titles, this game is not a comedic retelling of a single film franchise. Instead, it offers an original story that bridges multiple eras of the Dark Knight’s comic book history, from his earliest days to the modern era. Early demonstrations indicate a drastic shift in tone, balancing the trademark LEGO humor with a more serious, character-driven plot exploring Bruce Wayne’s psychological legacy. The game will feature over 200 playable characters from the Batman mythos, including deep cuts from the DC extended universe.

WHEN: The official worldwide release date has been set for October 12, 2025. Pre-orders for a collector’s edition, which includes an exclusive, deluxe brick-built replica of the Batmobile, will open next week.

WHERE: The title will launch on all major platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The main game world is set in a uniquely stylized, open-world Gotham City, reportedly five times larger than any previous LEGO game map.
