TL;DR: The vibe was immaculate. My curated “sad boy hours but make it aesthetic” playlist was about to hit the peak drop of Mitski’s “Nobody.” Then… silence. Pure, unadulterated silence. Not even a buffering wheel. Just the sound of my own existential dread and the drip of the showerhead. Turns out, 47,000 other people on DownDetector also just had their showers ruined.

AITA for immediately assuming this is an elaborate marketing stunt for a new “offline mode” feature that requires me to sacrifice my firstborn to Daniel Ek? Or is the real crime here that we’ve become a society so fragile that a 12-minute outage was trending worldwide while actual news was happening?

My reaction: 10/10 panic. Would rate again. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go touch grass. And listen to the birds. They’re on vinyl, I think.
