LOCAL RESIDENT LOSES IT AFTER TAXPAYER-FUNDED ‘ECLIPSE WATCH’ TRUCK GETS STUCK IN MUD—‘SERIOUSLY? IT’S COMMON SENSE NOT TO PARK ON SOAKED SOIL!’
In a fiery rant on the “Millfield & Surrounds Community Hub” Facebook page, lifelong resident Karen Poulter called out the local council for what she called a “textbook waste of time and money.”
“I’m all for kids having fun, but who in their right mind drives a branded astronomy truck into a farmer’s wet field, two days after a storm? It’s called common sense! You look up, you see clouds, you think, ‘Maybe I’ll stick to the tarmac.’
Now the thing’s bogged down to its axles and they’ve had to call a towing tractor—paid for by our rates, I assume—to pull it out. Meanwhile, half the street was trying to watch the eclipse from their driveways without getting run over by the emergency response convoy.
This isn’t rocket science. It’s literally watching the sun disappear behind the moon. Just step outside. Stop wasting our money on ‘mobile astronomy experiences’ that can’t even handle a bit of grass.”
