ANGERVILLE, USA – Just when you thought you could grab a free cup of joe to start your weekend, Dunkin’ drops the ball… again.

Word is spreading that on May 19, Dunkin’ is offering a “free” medium hot or iced coffee – but only if you download their app, make an account, AND show a barcode at the counter. Oh, and you still gotta pay the tax. So much for “free.”

“Common sense says if you’re giving away coffee, just give away the coffee,” fumed local resident Karen Thompson. “I don’t want your app, I don’t want your tracking, and I sure don’t want to stand in line behind 50 people who never actually buy anything. This isn’t a giveaway, it’s a data collection scheme disguised as a patriotic gesture.”

And it gets worse – reports are already flooding in that the “offer” is one per customer and excludes cold brew, lattes, and anything with actual flavor. So basically: free basic coffee, but only if you jump through hoops like it’s a government form.

Locals are calling for a boycott. “I’ll pay full price at the local gas station before I give Dunkin’ my email and phone number for a cup of watered-down drip,” added Bob, sipping his thermos on his porch.
