WIBTA for Telling My Gen Z Niece That Her "Vintage" Calvin Klein Jeans Are Just the Same Ones I Got Made Fun of for Wearing in 2013?
WIBTA for telling my Gen Z niece that her “vintage” Calvin Klein jeans are just the same ones I got made fun of for wearing in 2013?
So my niece (16F) just dropped $400 on some “Y2K relic” Calvin Klein jeans from Depop. She’s been posting thirst traps on TikTok about how “no one makes clothes like this anymore” and how she loves “the authentic 90s fade.”
AITA for sending her a screenshot of my Myspace profile from 2013 where I’m literally wearing the EXACT same jeans? The ones I bought from TJ Maxx for $19.99 because they were “basic” and “out of style”? She called me a “gatekeeper” and said I’m “projecting my own fashion trauma.”
TL;DR: Gen Z romanticizing the same skinny jeans I wore ironically. Am I the fashion boomer here?
(For the record, I saved the receipt. $19.99. TJ Maxx. 2013. The fade is identical. These kids are getting played by the algorithm and I’m not here for it.)
