“JUST SAW SOMEONE ‘PUNCH THE MONKEY’ AT THE PARK – COMMON SENSE, PEOPLE!”

Posted in Oakwood Valley Community Watch 🚨

Can we please talk about the absolute circus unfolding at the dog park near the old water tower? I’m sitting there with my coffee this morning, trying to enjoy the peace, when some guy in a tie-dye hoodie walks up to the new “interactive art installation” – you know, that ridiculous metal monkey statue the city council spent our tax dollars on? – and starts straight-up punching it.

Not joking. Wind-up, full-force, like he was fighting for his life. The thing is bolted to a concrete slab, so it’s not going anywhere, but the noise? Clang. Clang. CLANG. My dog is losing his mind. A toddler starts crying. Someone yells, “Hey, that’s public property!” And this guy just turns around, dead-eyed, and says, “The sign said ‘Punch the Monkey’ for stress relief.”

Common sense, people. The sign was painted by some artist who thinks graffiti is “expression.” It does NOT mean you actually physically assault a metal primate. It’s a metaphor for fighting your inner demons – not fighting municipal decor. I don’t care if you’re having a bad day. Take a walk. Eat a snack. Don’t punch the monkey.

Now the city is threatening to remove it because of one guy. Thanks a lot, Bob from the tie-dye hoodie. We can’t have nice things. 🙄
