“CAN SOMEONE WITH COMMON SENSE EXPLAIN WHY WE’RE SHUTTING DOWN SCHOOLS FOR A CLOUD?

So my kid’s school just announced they’re closing early for the ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ solar eclipse. Right. Because we all know kids have never seen the sun move behind a cloud before. 🤦‍♂️

I grew up in the 90s—we watched eclipses through a cereal box with tin foil and a pin. No one got fired, no one went blind, and we definitely didn’t cancel math class. Now they’re acting like the sun is going to explode. Meanwhile, I work a real job and now have to scramble for childcare because of a 2-minute shadow.

And don’t even get me started on the ‘special glasses’ hype. We’re supposed to believe a cardboard frame with plastic film is suddenly high-tech safety gear? My grandpa watched the 1979 eclipse with a piece of smoked glass from a welding shop and he could still read a newspaper at 85.

Common sense says: look up, don’t stare, go back to work. But no, we’ve got to treat a natural event like a national emergency. What’s next—snow days for a mild breeze? Unbelievable.”
